Road safety Bad weather - Rain detector

The rain detector takes the form of a compact system comprising the solar module, the rain sensor, a control box which includes control electronics and batteries together with a communication transmitter linked to the receiver of a panel illuminated by diodes.

As soon as rain is detected by the rain sensor, it triggers its coded HF communication transmitter which sends information to a coded HF receiver which triggers a type A14 panel with diode lighting which is powered by solar power, and which is located before the detection zone.

The front face of A14 panel is equipped with high luminosity electro-luminescent diodes. The perimeter of the A14 panel is equipped with red electro-luminescent diodes. Each red diode has a power of between 4 candelas (night time) and 8 candelas (daytime). The symbol « ! » is to be equipped with yellow electro-luminescent diodes. Each yellow diode has a power of between 3 candelas (night time) and 6 candelas (daytime).

On either side of the A14 panel there are solar modules capable of capturing only daylight and providing the system with a self-sufficient capability both in winter and summer. The rear of the A14 panel holds a control housing which includes the control electronics, the Nickel-Cadmium batteries and a communication receiver.

Beneath this A14 panel is a M9 type display pane "CHAUSSEE GLISSANTE" ('slippery surface') class 2. The letters on this sign are equipped with yellow electroluminescent diodes. Each yellow diode has a power of between 3 candelas (night time) and 6 candelas (night time). The link between the A14 panel and the display sign is achieved through an unscrewable sealed connection point.
