The purpose of this device is 24 hour a day surveillance of level crossings under all climatic conditions. Once an obstacle is detected on the level crossing, the camera transmits video images to the power car of an approaching train.
This system is made up of a camera, radar and infra-red which at the sides of the level crossing which are self-contained and powered by solar energy. The entire assembly is made autonomous through a solar module capable of capturing daylight )even in times of fog and rain). This camera is also radar and infra-red controlled, with the purpose of these detectors being to detect cars, lorries or motorcycles trapped on the level crossing, as well as any object that may cause a derailment at the level crossing (logs, blocks of stone, human beings etc.).
Once an anomaly is automatically detected on the level crossing, the camera will send video messages over a distance of about 5000 metres (before and past the level crossing) to a colour monitor placed in the train power car. The train driver can then take the measures required to activate the brakes on the train.
