Road safety Dummy illuminated road sign Type 'Alarme vitesse' ('speed alarm')

This system is made up of a solar powered vehicle speed detection radar system. The speed detection radar is placed on a support at a height of about 4 metres. The detection radar has a range of about 150 metres an its purpose is to detect vehicles whose speed is in excess of, say, 90 km/hr (adjustable and settable).

This radar is powered by its solar module capable of trapping daylight (even in fog and rain) thus allowing the system to be completely self-sufficient both in winter and summer.

The speed detection radar is equipped with a control box which includes the control electronics, a communication transmitter and the battery unit.

Once the radar detects a vehicle whose speed is greater then 90 km/hr, its coded HF communication transmitter immediately issues the command to light up and alternately flash diode-illuminated messages from the housing located after the detector.

The illuminated sign takes the form of a housing. The front face of the housing incorporates diode-lit representations of the messages "TROP VITE" ('too fast') and "LEVEZ LE PIED' ('slow down') ; other messages are possible. The letters in these messages are about 200 mm high and are equipped with yellow electro-luminescent diodes. Each yellow diode has a power of between 3 candelas (night time) and 6 candelas (daytime).

At the centre of the casing is a film representing a panel type B14 "90", in 1050, class 2.

On the top of the casing is an extra flat solar power module capable of trapping daylight (even in fog and rain) thus allowing the casing to be continuously self-sufficient both in winter and summer.

To the rear of the casing is equipped a control box which includes the control electronics, the battery unit, a communication transmitter linked to the detection radar transmitter.

When the radar is no longer detecting a vehicle and if nothing else is detected, the system automatically switches off.
